Things You Need to Start Doing to Boost Your Productivity and Safety While Working From Home
Working from home can be both a benefit and a curse, it really depends on what you make of it. We are closer to those we care about, but also have to try to keep a healthy work/life balance. That’s why here at YI Technology, we’ve compiled some handy tips and tricks to help you be ahead of the game and optimize your productivity while still enjoying your time at home with your family. between working and resting at home.
Working From Home, Doesn’t Mean You Should Start Working the Second You Wake up!
If you recently switched to remote work (WFH) you might want to start sleeping longer instead of commuting, sounds good right? well, not really! Typically we have morning routines. We wake up, get ready, have a coffee, and travel to work. This gives us time to fully wake up, clear our heads, and get into a work mindset. If you have just started working from home, you may feel the urge to start working the second you wake up. DON’T DO IT!
Being eager to work is an admirable trait. However, if you don’t take the proper time to get ready, you will see a negative impact on both your work performance and health. Sending that email as soon as you wake up might be tempting, but when 5:30 pm rolls around, and you’re starting to feel fatigued, you’re going to wish you spent a little bit of time to grab your morning coffee or get yourself in the right headspace.
Planning, Planning, Planning.
Planning is a great start to avoid procrastinating. Set up a task early at the start of the week or the night before, and to make it more fun, Give yourself a ‘reward’ for every task completed.
Use your smartphone reminder, or assign a task to your family member to remind you to take a break every few hours. This way, you can spend time with your loved ones while delivering a quality of work for your job!
Create Your Own ‘Office Space’.
Avoid working from your couch or bed, while it may be comfortable, you’ll find it difficult to focus and may even start feeling the need to take a short nap.
The right working environment can help you get into that working attitude. Find a nice quiet area of your home, make sure you have ample space for all your work-related needs, and keep away from any distractions. Having your own home office is a great way to separate work and home, but If you are a new parent, or live with many people at home, or living with an active pet, WFH can be challenging. You can’t be in two different places at the same time to monitor their activities or to be aware of someone knocking on your front door.
An indoor camera is a great way to check-in, and make sure everything is ok, without having to get up and leave your workspace. You can check on your newborn, pets, etc. from your smartphone or using an Alexa Echo Show.
Choose the Right Gadget to Boost your Work!
Now you have the perfect setup for your office room or desk, you have planned the things-to-do, now you may want to arm yourself with techy devices to help you work better.
Whether your work needs a constant discussion with your co-workers or not, make sure to have installed all-important software such as video-conference tools, project management tools, things that would help you coordinate with your remote co-workers. You can also get an extra pair of noise-canceling headset, a webcam, a smart home display connected to your YI Home app to monitor the other rooms or your front door to keep alert for what matters.
